Big News and Some FiH Fun...

Happy Thursday everyone! I have some big news to share. My boyfriend got a job offer in Northern California, and will most likely be moving there with him sometime THIS MONTH! This is a big deal for me on many levels. I have never lived outside of Arizona. I have lived in Tucson and Flagstaff, but they are both about two hours from my parents. This will be over 10 hours to drive home. I also have never lived with a boy. Yes... I am almost 25. Yes... Dave and I have been dating for almost three years. I know we could handle it and in most ways I think it will be great. I will have to find a job up there and possibly get a Cali RX license, which means taking their law exam and learning all their rules.

The bigger issue for me is leaving my family and friends (and his friends too.) I am extremely close to my family and I would miss them like crazy. My grandpa is also having some serious health problems and I would not be able to see him every week like I do now. There are a lot of issues for me to think about before I decide but a big part of my heart is saying "GO FOR IT!" and I think it would be nice to explore a new state and city together. I love Dave so much and I can't picture my life without him. So, while this is not exactly a "thoughtless post" I will share some random snapshots of Dave and Ty for Thoughtless Thursday. In my heart I know it would be a great adventure with this wonderful man by my side! (And that little furry man too!) I will definitely keep you all updating with the whole move and everything! On a lighter note, the wait is finally over for the new Twilight movie. I am not a fanatic like some, but I actually really loved the first movie. I had LOW expectations because I normally hate that kind of story, but this was much better than I thought. I never saw the second one, so I am hoping to rent it soon and then hit the theaters for the newest installment. Thought I would share a little Face in Hole fun... Did anyone else know that Robert Pattinson sings? Its actually not too shabby! Check it out...

Confessions of an Ex-Bookworm

The topic this week for Top Two Tuesdays is favorite books. I used to be a big reader and loved everything from the classics to the lighter fluffier reads. I must confess that lately I have not been reading at all. I think it might be a little burn out from all the scientific reading I had to do in college, but it has been a while since I have had to do any of that! It is definitely time to jump back on the bookworm band wagon and checking out every one's picks will certainly help me get some books on my "to-read" list! My top two are books that I have read multiple times and have loved for a long time. I first read these in high school, but I still think they are amazing books!

1. Pride and Prejudice

2. Joy Luck Club
If you haven't read these I highly recommend both of them! Sure you could watch the movies, but as is almost ALWAYS the case- the book is a million times better than the movie!

As for this weekend, it was pretty low key. On Friday Dave brought home some delicious Greek food from one of our favorite Greek places on the other side of town- yummy! On Saturday morning I went to my Aunt and Uncle's new place to help them unload their U-haul truck. It was hot but I am glad I could help. As my Dad always says, "Many hands make for light work." My family and I went out for Mexican for lunch which was pretty tasty! On Saturday night, I went to the movies to see the new Shrek with Dave. It was cute but not as good as the other ones in my opinion. I also forgot to eat dinner before the movie and ended up eating WAYY too much popcorn and it totally made me sick! Other than that we just hung out together- watched a little TV (the NBA game!) and took Ty for a walk.
I have surgery scheduled for tomorrow and I am pretty scared about it, so please say a little prayer for me! Hopefully everything will go well and I will have enough energy to catch up on all my favorite blogs! Thanks for stopping by and thanks in advance for your sweet comments! Have a great week!

SATC...I'm A Charlotte

The topic this Friday at A Girl in Pearls is another awesome one! Favorite Sex and The City Character! I LOVE SATC and I am so excited for the new movie coming out!

I have a hard time picking a favorite character because I seriously love them all! If I had to choose one that I identify the most with it would have to be Charlotte York. I think her style is the one I love the most on the show and I totally understand her perfectionism. My friends dubbed me Charlotte long ago when we were still watching new episodes on HBO! I love her relationship with Harry.

I would have to say Miranda is a close second as a favorite character. I love her relationship with Steve! These are basically my favorite characters on the show:

I can't wait until I get to see Sex and the City 2! I have always loved Adian so it will be nice to have him back (even if it is a little dangerous for Carrie!) Who is your favorite SATC character? Head on over to A Girl in Pearls and link up!

Favorite Fridays

I am also going to play along with Five Question Friday over at My Little Life:

1. Do you have an iPhone and, if so, how do you get apps and what are your favorites?
No, but my boyfriend does and I love it! I like playing ragdoll and surfing the web the most! One of these days I am going to upgrade to an iTouch iPod!

2. What is your fondest memory of K-3rd grade?
My childhood was a pretty happy one so to narrow it down to one memory is really hard! I would say school, family, and softball were the things that made my life happy during those years!

3. What makes you cringe at the thought of touching?
I have said it before and I will say it again- SPIDERS! I pretty much don't love things with an exoskeleton. I find them ccreeepppyyy!!!

4. If you could have any celebrity show up on your doorstep who would it be and why?
I really don't care about meeting celebs, but if I had to pick I would say.... Oprah? Maybe she would be there to tell me I had won some sweet giveaway of hers!

5. What would you say is your best physical feature?
I would easily say my eyes are my favorite feature.

30 Before 30- Goals For Travel, Food, Money, Love, and Learning

The topic this week over at The Undomestic Momma is to list the top two things to do before I die. There are so many things that I would love to accomplish in my time on Earth (however long or short that it may be.) I have been recently been working on my 30 Before 30 list (the 30 things I want to do before I turn 30 that I saw on E, Myself and I and I have seen a few people post.) It was such a fun list to create! I think I will make it 30ish things and keep adding as I think of more worthy goals. I will be thirty in about five years (yikes!) and I am sure that I won't accomplish everything I have set out to do, but its a great motivation just to see it in writing! I sometimes cheat on the Top 2 Tuesdays and pick wayyy more than two things, but in this case it would be pretty easy to pick the two things that I would hope to accomplish before I die.

1. Get Married To My Heart's Desire and My Best Friend.
I am not one of those girls who dreamed of her wedding day since preschool. As I have gotten older and more ready to make that kind of commitment, I am starting to think about it more and more. Sure, I love to look at the pictures of other people's weddings and think about the things I want to have at my wedding, but that one day is not the reason this is on my list. I am excited to start a life with my best friend and have a partnership based on love, respect, and loyalty with plenty of fun and laughter along the way.

2. Become a Momma
Family is one of the most special and important things in my life and to start my own family is a lifelong dream of mine. I would love to have both my own biological children as well as adopt and I think it is one of the things I am looking forward to most in life.

I know that those are pretty basic things that a lot of people accomplish in life, but those are the two things that I would be disappointed if I didn't get to experience. Beyond those things here is my 30 Before 30 list of all the things I would love to do before I die:

-------

1. Travel to Hawaii

2. Travel to Australia [& Hold Koalas Here!] [Snorkle/SCUBA The Great Barrier Reef]

3. Swim With Dolphins

4. Buy My 1st House

5. Eat at Pizzeria Bianco

6. Get Married To My Heart's Desire and My Best Friend

7. Become a Momma

8. Take A Cooking Class

9. Go One Month Without Eating Out [Cook At Home For EVERY MEAL!]

10. Get SCUBA Certified and Go Diving In The Open Ocean

11. See A Play On Broadway In NYC and A Circ De Soleil Show In Vegas

12. Find A Regular Volunteer Opportunity [Animal Shelter or AZ4Children?]

13. Read {at least} 50 0f the The Books On The Modern Library's Top 100 List [and/or The College Board List]

14. See All The Movies On The AFI Top 100 List {As of 4/2010 I have seen 24}

15. Host A Fancy Dinner Party and Host A Theme Party

16. Hike The Grand Canyon

17. See The Giant Sequoia Trees In Yosemite/Sequoia National Park

18. Read The Entire Bible [Maybe Using This Guide?]

19. Get A Professional Massage and Have A Spa Day With My Mom

20. Create A Cookbook Of My Favorite Recipes and Have A Few Signature Dishes I Can Make From Memory

21. Start Saving For My Retirement

22. Take A Cruise

23. Get My Parents A Really Great Gift

24. Learn To Play Golf and/or Tennis [Take Lessons]

25. Travel To Europe

26. Learn To Play An Instrument

27. Write A Letter To The People Who Made A Difference In My Life [Teachers, Family, Friends] And A Letter To My Children To Be Opened On Their 18th Birthday

28. Go On A Cross Country Road Trip

29. Pay Credit Card Debt Off Every Month and Pay More Than Minimum On Student Loans/ and/or House Payment, and have six months worth of living expenses in a savings account.

30. Become Fluent In Spanish [Rosetta Stone or Community College Classes]

--------

These are just a few of the goals that I thought of (for now) for my finances, food, travels, my brain, my heart and my soul. I will keep you all posted on my progress on these goals and hopefully will get to cross a few off soon!

Weekend Recap, Beauty Tips and a Little 'Bout Love

I had a pretty good weekend, but as always it seems to go by way too fast! I had a girls night out on Friday to see Alice In Wonderland with S and C and lil J. I was not really expecting very much since I HATED Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I LOVE old school Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas) but some of his new stuff is just weird and creepy. The movie was OK and got me thinking about Halloween costumes (yes- I know its only April, haha)... I would look cute as Alice or maybe the white queen? So anyway, we were supposed to get dinner and then head back to the theatre to see How To Train Your Dragon (which I had been dying to see- it looks SO CUTE!) Well, C and S got into a fight while we were waiting for dinner and S stormed out of the restaurant. It was pretty awkward for me and I did not want to take sides. I could see where each one was coming from but I think they both overreacted! C and I stayed for dinner and then felt sick after eating our body weight in queso. We ended up just watching One Hour Photo at her place (which was SUPER creepy!)

On Saturday morning C and I went to Twice As Nice to sell some of our old clothes. I always enjoy shopping with her! She is super stylish and is never afraid to tell me when something is hideous. I traded some of my clothes for a couple pairs of shorts and a shirt. It is like shopping for free- I love that! Plus C had some stuff she was just going to get rid of so she gave it to me. Then we went to Gracia's for some delicious pollo funditio and bean dip. Us AZ gals love our Mexican food! Dave came over for a little while and helped my dad paint one of his projects, but had to get to bed early because he had work early the next morning.

Sunday evening after Dave got out of work I met up with him and some of his work friends at Sandbar. It was fun and everyone was really nice, although they were WAY older than us (like in their 50s) Dave is a really friendly, nice guy so it is no surprise to me that he gets along with just about everyone despite the huge age gap!

I saw this fun questionnaire on Taylor's blog and thought I would copy it and repost it today:
Who is your man? David L

How long have you been together? In August it will be three years!

How long did you date? Two and a half years and counting!

How old is your man? 24

Who eats more? Dave eats huge meals (I call it eating like a snake) but I am a big snacker and eat more often

Who said "I love you" first? He said it to me on his 23rd birthday.

Who is taller? Dave is taller than me and I LOVE our height ratio!

Who sings better? We both love to sing, but neither one is exactly the next American Idol!

Who is smarter? I am more book smart, but he is really smart too.

Whose temper is worse? Umm, we both have our moments! I would say me, but he has some road rage that is pretty crazy!

Who does the laundry? We each do our own laundry since we don't live together, but I like doing laundry so I would volunteer for that task.

Who takes out the garbage? I HATE doing this so it would DEFINITELY be Dave's job!

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? We always vie for the position away from the wall, but eventually when we have a bigger bedroom we will probably have our set sides of the bed.

Who pays the bills? Again, we still do our own thing, but I am thinking that I would totally trust him to take care of this stuff. I always thought I would have to do it myself, but Dave is so good with these things that I know he would do a great job with it.

Who is better with the computer? I would say me, but neither one of us is a programming genius. I would love to take some classes in the future and learn different programs (especially photoshop!)

Who mows the lawn? I never have and never will!

Who cooks dinner? Dave is such a good cook! I always pictured me doing all the cooking as a wife but with Dave I can easily see us sharing that responsibility evenly. This is another area that I would love to take classes and learn to really master some dishes.

Who drives when you are together? I HATE driving, so usually Dave. I wish we had sweet public transit like NYC and then I would just take that and walk everywhere.

Who pays when you go out? He pays for most things but I pay for things too.

Who is most stubborn? We both can be stubborn, but we are both working on it and trying to be more patient and understanding with each other!

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? We are both good about apologizing.

Whose parents do you see the most? Mine and I think that is how it will always be. I am very close to my family and Dave's family lives really far away!

Who asked who out? Dave asked me out

Who wears the pants in the family? We are both alpha dogs fighting over the same food dish! Haha. Seriously though, I don't think either one completely wears the pants. We are truly partners.

Now on to another fun installment of Top 2 Tuesdays with Taylor:

This week she is asking our top 2 beauty secrets. For me, taming the little frizzies that can get really crazy after blow drying is a problem. I have super thick wavy hair so when I blow dry it straight it can get really poofy and frizzy. I love my Biosilk Therapy and John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon

I also would have to say that I could not live without my Retin-A Micro. It is a RX only topical treatment for pimples, but it is so gentle and doesn't leave me with a peeling face. It is supposed to be good for wrinkles too! Well, I am excited to see what everyone else posts for their beauty secrets and I am dying to try the Beer hair rinsing trick from Taylor!

My Co-Pilot

This is from the day I first went flying with Dave. He has his private pilot's license and has taken my whole family up flying. He went got some additional hours in on Sunday and worked on some new instrument training. I am so proud of him!
We are also working our way through all 10 best pic nominees. We have seen Avatar, Hurtlocker and this weekend we added one more to the list... Only 7 more to go! Geeze! I am playing along with Post-It Note Tuesdays for the first time...
